Getting Started making a website for you
I will build you a website directly on a webhosting site, register a Domain name for you, and hand over control of your new site to you. Easy!
First, we will talk and discuss what sort of business you run (if this is for business, it doesn't have to be) and what you are looking for in your site. We will have to figure out your basic needs right away so that once the site is running I won't have to make adjustments (for minor adjustments I'll go back into the site for free for you, but major adjustments cost an additional $50 each time I need to do it. Errors on my part I fix for free).
Next you will pick out the "template" that you like and we'll develop a look for you and add in the necessary features that you want. My limit is seven web pages (and a grand total of 100 files in storage, documents, photos, video/audio media, etc), after that an annual fee to the web host is needed to open up the site to hold more data. Once you like the looks and everything is up and running to your satisfaction I'll hand the controls over to you.
You can go with a fully free site (not including the annual Domain charges) so there will be no monthly or annual operating costs, "free" really is free, and once the site is built you won't need me anymore. If you DO feel that you need me to manage the site on a regular basis, or that you want to expand the features of the site, then it will start costing you some monthly or annual fees. Most additonal costs are actually quite small and usually run between $10 and $50 each annually, depending on what you choose. A good looking web site with several paid additional features can still be had for under $200 for the first year ALL costs included.
Then we will discuss drawing Internet attention to your site. Contrary to popular belief a registration with a major search engine such as Google is not always necessary, it is often too broad of search capabilities, you need to have your site targeted to a much narrower customer demographic which is often cheaper. But search engine registration is an option, and of course adds to the price.
At any point you can change the specification, do storage upgrades, once I build the site for you it's all yours to do anything you want with it.
Payment
Initial costs are my personal fee of $100, plus $20.20 for initial Domain Registration. Domain costs after that will be $19.95 per year, payable by check or money order to the domain host. The $20.20 Domain fee will be paid to the web host and is due immediately, my personal fee of $100 will be made out to me. Of that $100 personal fee the first $50 is due before I build your site and the second $50 is due when I deliver a site to your satisfaction, or you can pay me the full $100 up front. If the site is fully built and functional but you no longer want it before I transfer control over to you I'll refund 50% of the full cost ($50 out of $100) only because by that point I did expend time and effort. If you cancel before any work is done you get a full refund. If you are satisfied with the results of my work at the time of completion and have paid in full and control of the site has been transfered to you but at a later point change your mind and want a refund: TOUGH! You are out of luck and are not getting any refund at that point because you did accept the final product. Returned checks are subject to all turned around bank fees. I hold the password to the site until I recieve full payment (cleared through the bank) then I hand over the website "account" to you with the password which you can then change. Once the site is built and completed and if I do not recieve full payment within 30 days of a functioning site I will simply close out the site. During those 30 days your site can still be up and running and bringing in business for you, but you can't change anything on it until I hand you control of it.
Additional costs: I charge $25 a month to manage a site for you if you don't want to manage it yourself (more if it involves message boards or community forums). All other costs like domain ownership and storage upgrades go through the website host. We will discuss all potential additional costs well in advance before you make a final decison.
TIME
Timeframe for completion is usually about 2 or 3 weeks after receipt of initial payment, but delays on your part in supplying me with necessary info to build you site will slow it down. If more than 4 weeks have passed since the receipt of initial payment and the site is still not completed (and only if you have supplied me with all necessary information and files necessary) I will give you a 50% discount on my fees (my fees only, all domain and upgrade costs payable to web host still apply).
